Zanco - Variable Font

Typography

Zanco is a celebration of delicious contradictions; of elegance and awkwardness, youth and sophistication, all rolled up into a single variable display type. Standing tall and narrow, it features stressed curves, softened internal angles and unconventional weight distribution that effortlessly falls just right. The typeface goes from lanky to heavy, thickening shadows filling in the bottoms halves, which is especially lovely on interlocking descenders.

The typeface is named after its long, stilt-like limbs; the zancos worn by acrobats towering above joyful crowds. Across the full family, characters stand tall in a range of styles: from heavy-footed and funky platforms to slim lifts that lend it an ethereal, art nouveau vibe. The effect is curved, melty, and a little nostalgic.  You get the relaxed, versatile, legible, sensuous and useful, all in one.

It’s perfect for brand identities with heart, packaging, and genuine, effortless messaging. Posters, billboards and motion graphics that fly off the screen.

Zanco was designed by Alexander Wright at In-House Int’l studio foundry, and developed by Rodrigo Fuenzalida. In-House International is a creative agency delivering branding breakthroughs for game changers.
